Annotated Bilbiography in IEEE Style

This is an annotated Bibliography that covers the various sources I have used for my 'Deadline 2' assignments.

[1] Aiden, Twitter, 2015. [Online]. Available: https://twitter.com/AidenHH/status                         /640313032296517633. [Accessed: 06- Sep- 2015].
The purpose of this was to give an example of somebody reacting on social media.  I find that it is a more personal and theoretical than the professional articles and posts on the subject.  I could use it as an example for perspectives on AI.

[2]C. Henderson, 'Constrained hallucinationsAll normal sensory perception in humans is…', Plus.google.com, 2015. [Online]. Available: https://plus.google.com/105229351028637148713/posts/hTPCB7VkYtg. [Accessed: 06- Sep- 2015].
The purpose of this was also another perspective on social media to contrast scholarly sources.  It is more personal than scholarly sources and was not entirely factual. Similarly I might use this in the future to give some perspective on peoples perspective on AI.

[3]R. Brooks, 'artificial intelligence is a tool, not a threat - Rethink Robotics', Rethink Robotics, 2014. [Online]. Available: http://www.rethinkrobotics.com/blog/artificial-intelligence-tool-threat/. [Accessed: 12- Sep- 2015].
This scholarly article was useful in that it touched on specifics as to what can be done about AI in relation to health care, as opposed to talking about the terrifying possibilities. I find that this type of article is more reputable because it is not entirely speculative and specific in many ways. This could be a useful resource in many future AI related inquiries.

[4]J. Bohannon, 'Fears of an AI Pioneer', Sciencemag.org., 2015. [Online]. Available: http://www.sciencemag.org.ezproxy1.library.arizona.edu/content/349/6245/252.full. [Accessed: 06- Sep- 2015].
This article highlights fears from a person who has experience in the field of artificial intelligence, which gives credibility to his comments on the subject.  I found that although at time it seemed excessive, the article has a legitimate bases for its claims. This is a good source of worst case scenario examples of artificial intelligence.

[5]P. Mollard and R. Ingham, 'Artificial intelligence: Hawking's fears stir debate', Phys.org, 2015. [Online]. Available: http://phys.org/news/2014-12-artificial-intelligence-hawking-debate.html. [Accessed: 06- Sep- 2015].
This article was used to give credibility to the issue, as Hawking is a highly respected man, his concerns over artificial intelligence are far more likely to be taken seriously.  I observed a hyperbolic tone to it all that is mostly given after the fact by the news website, that alongside pictures of terminators seems to reduce the credibility of the site. I could use this as an example of a good source information that is hurt by the way it is presented.

[6]K. Bowman, 'Up for Debate: Is Artificial Intelligence a Threat to Humanity? | Cogito.org', Cogito.cty.jhu.edu, 2015. [Online]. Available: https://cogito.cty.jhu.edu/40133/up-for-debate-is-artificial-intelligence-a-threat-to-humanity/. [Accessed: 06- Sep- 2015].
This article served as a baseline for the argument of artificial intelligence and touched upon many of the arguments that the issue presents.  I found that it is relatively neutral though it draws the reader through futuristic pictures.  I could use it in the future as a good overview for the issue.

[7] YouTube, 'Stephen Hawking: 'AI could spell end of the human race' BBC', 2014. [Online]. Available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFLVyWBDTfo. [Accessed: 12- Sep- 2015].
This BBC interview covers the ways that artificial intelligence help Stephen Hawking in everyday life, yet how their looming threat should be acknowledged. It essentially is a segment in which Hawking speaks his mind for the entirety, touching on a variety of subjects.  It is a good segment to quote and it presents both sides of the argument, talking about the dangerous balance that AI needs to maintain. I could use it in the future for its various good quotes.

[8] The Red Pill Network (tumblr), 'Stephen Hawking thinks these 3 things could destroy humanity', 2015. [Online]. Available: http://theredpillnetwork.tumblr.com/post/112519134675/stephen-hawking-thinks-these-3-things-could. [Accessed: 12- Sep- 2015].
This is an interesting tumblr article that talks about more than just AI, but it has good quotes from Hawking about AI's great potential, but how important it is to monitor it.  I find this to be a surprisingly neutral article that relays Hawking's stance without taking a side.  This article also could be useful to quote in the future.

[9] reddit, 'Science Ama Series: I am Stephen Hawking, theoretical physicist. Join me to talk about making the future of technology more human, reddit. AMA! • www.reddit.com', 2015. [Online]. Available: https://www.reddit.com/comments/3eret9/. [Accessed: 12- Sep- 2015]
This is an interesting post from Hawking himself that implores the users of reddit/r/science to ask him questions and to look into his stance on artificial intelligence. I was surprised to find the amount of scholars and professionals asking very in depth questions.  I can use this in the future as an example of how Hawking reaches out to the public.

[10]J. Baratt, 'Why Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates Are Terrified of Artificial Intelligence', The Huffington Post, 2015. [Online]. Available: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-barrat/hawking-gates-artificial-intelligence_b_7008706.html. [Accessed: 12- Sep- 2015].
This Huffington Post article is a good baseline read for the issue.  It covers who is involved and why they hold the opinions that they do.  I could use this article for the large amount of statistics and information it provides.

  1. It looks like you've done a really great job of matching your bibliography to the IEEE guide that you followed. The summaries that you've written seem to be a very good length as they are not too long for the reader to just scan through. Also, the formatting looks awesome!

  2. I think that you may have mixed up the order of some dates based upon your IEEE guide that you followed. I would have liked a little more on the summaries but they are pretty great maybe you want your reader to want more. From what I can tell you did a good job.
